Vancouver Weather

The city of Vancouver is located in the west coast of Canada in the province of British Colombia. The city is the eighth largest in Canada. The climate in the city of Vancouver is oceanic and sometimes it is called marine west coast. Usually the summers in Vancouver are dry. In fact during the months of July and August there is an average of 5 days of precipitation combined. The Vancouver weather can experience big drops during the winter but for a city this far up north its climate is temperate. Another thing that you should know about Vancouver is that it is one of the wettest cities in Canada. That is even when you take into account the dry summer months in the area.

Winters

Sure the winter is cold in Vancouver weather but mostly you will see rain. There is a chance of snow but really snowy weather is rather uncommon for the city of Vancouver. Most of the snow tends to stay in the mountains which surround the city. Snow can be seen as early as October and as late as April with a yearly average of 48.2 centimeters (18.98 inches) each year. Compare that to cities in the same latitude to the east and you realize that Vancouver seems extremely mild. We at Vancouver Weather.Net love winters in Vancouver except for the excessive amount of rain. The coldest month of the year is January with an average low temperature of 0.5 Celsius (32.9 Fahrenheit) each year.

Spring

The spring in the city of Vancouver starts early. By February you start seeing the flowers blooming and the temperatures usually stay above freezing. Rain is still something to be concerned about for Vancouver weather in the spring so check www.vancouverweather.net and bring with an umbrella. By the time May arrives, the average high temperature is 16.5 Celsius (61.7 Fahrenheit) and the rainfall starts decreasing. Snow is a possibility during the Vancouver springs but it is mostly nothing that would stop traffic or flights. Between the months of March and May the temperature goes up 8 degrees Celsius to as high as 18 Celsius (64 Fahrenheit). Other than the threat of rain Vancouver experiences great spring weather and visitors always seem to love it here.

Summer

There is no better time to visit the city of Vancouver than the summer. The weather is dry and very sunny and the temperatures tend to be moderate. July and August are perfect as they see temperatures with an average high of 21.7 Celsius (71.1 Fahrenheit) and 21.9 Celsius (71.4 Fahrenheit) respectively. At night you still may need a sweater when you go out as the average low temperature in July is 13.2 Celsius (55.8 Fahrenheit). The month of July sees over five times more sunshine than December so we at Vancouver Weather.Net definitely recommend the summer as the best time to visit Vancouver. Vancouver weather does see spikes in temperature but the hottest ever recorded was 33.3 Celsius (91.9 Fahrenheit) plus humidity.

The Autumn

The autumn in Vancouver experiences rain but not nearly as much as the spring. When compared to the rest of Canada the temperatures stay moderate. By November the average high temperature is only 9 Celsius (48 Fahrenheit) while the average low temperature is 3.1 Celsius (37.6 Fahrenheit). While the temperatures can drop lower than that they really do not get too bad. September and October are still great times to visit the city of Vancouver just make sure to bring your sweaters and at least one coat. September still experiences a lot of sunshine with an average of 199.1 mean sunshine hours but that number drops to 124.8 by the month of October. Check www.vancouverweather.net for the current conditions as temperature spikes can happen.

Weather Records

As you can already tell Vancouver is not really a city of extremes; not in the hot weather or the cold weather when compared to the rest of Canada. The hottest temperature ever recorded in the city of Vancouver is 33.3 Celsius (91.9 Fahrenheit) while the coolest temperature ever is -17.8 Celsius (0 Fahrenheit). In November of 2006 the city experienced really heavy snow which was anywhere from 30 to 60 centimeters (11.8 to 23.6 inches) in a day but that type of snowfall is extremely rare. The one concern that citizens of Vancouver have about snow is that the snow is wet and when you mix that with the winter temperatures in the area it can translate into icy conditions on the roads.
